The voice of Cara Jones is well known in Japan and, increasingly, around the world. Born in Philadelphia, Cara studied Japanese at Harvard and found herself in Tokyo soon after completing her degrees. There she released three albums for major labels: "Different Skies", "Pandora's Box", and "NOW".
Sales of Cara Jones albums and songs hit 1.2 million copies by the year 2000. Her credits include songs for Japanese top artists (such as Puffy, The Yellow Monkey, and more), and writing and performing on several internationally-released Playstation and Sega game soundtracks and anime. In addition, her singing voice has been heard on countless TV and radio commercials, and on the popular FM station J-Wave.
Internationally, her spoken voice was heard around the world in various manners: She tells you which way to turn in the GPS car navigation systems in the Jaguar, certain models of the Land Rover, Cadillac, Ford, and Mercedes Benz. She was the English language announcer of the 1998 Winter Olympics at Nagano (click to hear!). Other highlights include a radio series with the late Barry White, TV commercials for Toyota with Christian Slater, and an acclaimed performance at a fashion show for Harry Winston.
The third album, "NOW", was released in 2001. The lead track, "Spit It Out", was featured in an episode of the hit TV series Dawson's Creek (season 5) and the closing track, "Settle For Love", hit #1 on the MP3.com AAA/Alternative chart. In addition, the previously unreleased song "Whisper Love" was featured in the award-winning feature film "Girl Play".
Recently, Cara's music can be found on Pandora Radio and Palm picked up the album to use in marketing the Palm Pre! Also, ads for Window Mobile, Nexus One, Alpine Stereos, and Pioneer receivers all featured the album "NOW". The song "See It My Way" was featured in Samsung's Blu-Ray player campaign and heard in Best Buy stores around the country!
