Well-known FM radio personality Cara Jones celebrates the release of her second album, Pandora's Box (Teichiku Records) with a concert at Cay in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, on December 21st. The American-born musician came to Japan five years ago. While maintaining a regular spot on 81.3 FM J-Wave as well as other stations, she released her first album, Different Skies, in 1994, making her official debut as a singer.

The new album, also all in English, begins with "Wood And Strings", a song recently heard on television in a commercial for Fujitsu computers. It sets the tone for the album's sound -- a warm, acoustic-based sound with sweet vocals that reach out and talk to you. "I was trying to make an album that was relaxing to listen to and somehow made you feel like you were in the middle of a beautiful, natural setting. I'd truly rather one person really listen and enjoy the music than hundreds hear it but don't listen. Music should feel like your friend."

The album was partially recorded with the band who backs up the popular Irish singer, Mary Black. "Dublin is so different from Tokyo. The town, the people, they're so natural. So real. And I think some of that honesty has come through in the music."

Cara Jones has many fans who turn on the radio to hear her brand of natural talk. She has written over twenty commercial songs, too. But this album is her first on a major label. "This is it. This is me. This is the album I always wanted to make."
